A collaboration between Outsideworld Studio and Students of the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig, Camera Obscura is a portable art studio which uses a variety of techniques to capture quality hand drawn portraits in only a few minutes.
Hundreds of years ago, before selfies, before mobile phones and even before analog film, if you wanted your image captured, you had to sit for it. We give people a glimpse of this previous time with a portrait booth. With a camera obscura, we quickly draw an outline, then a small team of talented artists fill in the details and in 5 minutes or less the sitter has a postcard with their likeness.
By making people stop and sit for a few moments instead of mindlessly snapping selfies, we offer not just a portrait, but also a different way of thinking about and enjoying the moment.
